Shoulder Pain Pendulum Exercise
67The Pendulum Exercise
As a professional physical therapist I treat a wide range of shoulder pain problems each week ranging from Frozen Shoulder, Rotator Cuff to Shoulder Bursitis and Tendonitis.
One of the first priorities with most shoulder pain cases is to ensure that the shoulder is kept mobile with causing any further damage to the painful shoulder.
For many of my shoulder pain patients the first exercise that I recommend is the Shoulder Pain Pendulum Exercise. This exercise uses gravity and a gentle movement to keep the shoulder mobile and start the process of pain relief and recovery.
As with any exercise program it is important to check with a doctor before undertaking the exercise.
The picture below shows one of my patients in position to start doing the Pendulum Exercise.

The following short video that I made shows you exactly how to do the Pendulum Exercise. If you are suffering from shoulder pain I hope that this simple exercise helps to relieve your shoulder.

I can see you are going to be posting a lot more useful hubs, Tim! Welcome to the site!
I'm three degree black belt and I banged my shoulder around a bit on falls and things. I'm also still doing weights. The combination has giving some shoulder pain and I am definitely going to use your exercise. Thanks for the great info.
bwt Normally I ignore hub pages posted on the forums but this one looked too useful. I just wanted you to know that posting on the forum worked this time.
Hi
It's great to see a video. It makes the exercise so much clearer.
Best wishes
